We offer a postdoctoral position at the Telethon Institute of Genetics
and Medicine (http://www.tigem.it/).
The candidate should have a solid background in molecular biology and histology.
Good knowledge in English is required. Previous experience in the use of
public sequence databases and/or animal breeding and handling would be an
advantage. The candidate will be part of the teams of Dr Sandro Banfi (http://www.tigem.it/research/Banfi.htm)
and Dr Valeria Marigo (http://www.tigem.it/research/marigo.htm).
Research with Dr Banfi will focus on the identification, expression studies
by RNA in situ hybridization and functional characterization in vivo and
in vitro of novel retina-specific transcripts ( including non-coding RNAs)
involved in eye development and disease. Research with Dr Marigo will focus
on functional studies of new transgenic mouse models for the study of the
pathogenesis of retinitis pigmentosa. The genetic approach is based on an
inducible expression of pathogenetic alleles identified in patients.
